Who Can Get These Scholarships?

You can apply if you are studying post-obligatory (after compulsory school) in Spain These are the main studies covered: Non-University Studies (No Universitarios):

  • Bachillerato (high school / A-level equivalent)
  • Formación Profesional (FP) – middle and higher level vocational courses
  • Professional arts studies, sports studies, religious studies
  • Official language schools (including online)
  • Basic FP cycles and access/preparation courses

University Studies (Universitarios):

  • Bachelor’s degree (Grado)
  • Master’s degree (Máster)
  • Higher artistic education (Enseñanzas Artísticas Superiores) – new this year!
  • University access course for people over 25

Special Help: There is extra money for students with disabilities (25% or more), autism, serious behaviour or language problems, or high abilities.

Important Eligibility Rules

  1. Nationality and Residence: Usually you need to be Spanish, from the EU/EEA, or have legal residence in Spain. Your family home must not be in Catalonia (they have their own separate scholarship now).
  2. Economic Rule: Your family income must be below certain limits. The government checks your family’s total money and number of people living at home. There are 3 income levels (called Umbral 1, 2 and 3). Lower income = more money from the scholarship.
  3. Academic Rule: You must have good enough grades (usually average of 5 or higher out of 10). For university, you need to pass enough subjects.
  4. Other Rules: You should not already have a similar or higher degree. You must enrol or plan to enrol in an official centre in Spain.

If your family income is very low, you can get the full scholarship. Even if income is a bit higher, you can still get some parts.

Benefits

The scholarship is made of several easy parts:

  • Fixed Amount for Income: €1,700 (helps with basic costs)
  • Fixed Amount for Residence: €2,700 (if you have to move and live away from home during studies)
  • Fixed Amount for Good Grades: €50 to €125 (depending on your average mark)
  • Variable Amount: Extra money (minimum €60) based on your family income and grades
  • Tuition Fees (Matrícula): The scholarship pays your official public university fees for the first time you take each subject
  • Basic Amount for Non-University: €300 (or €350 for basic FP cycles)

Example: A student with low family income who lives away from home and has good grades can get €1,700 + €2,700 + good grades money + variable money + tuition paid That is a lot of help! The total never goes over the real cost (for example, residence help cannot be more than you actually spend).
